Location: Richland, Washington
Completed: 2023
Architect: Terence Thornhill
Value engineering and construction: Mark Vincent Construction

The homeowners wanted to turn an outdated home on their family-owned riverfront property into a modern place to live. They and architect Terence Thornhill approached Mark Vincent Construction to help bring that vision to life. MVC provided value engineering and built the project from start to finish.

A whole-home transformation

The project combined a whole-home remodel with additions for a garage and front office space. Inside the existing home, MVC updated the kitchen, bathrooms, living areas, bedrooms, laundry and utility spaces, and basement. Light wood finishes, simple trim, and pale surfaces connect the rooms while allowing each space its own character.

Living spaces connected to the setting

Vaulted ceilings, wood beam detailing, and expansive windows define the main living area. The windows follow the roofline and frame views of the riverfront landscape, while light wood flooring and a fireplace bring warmth to the interior.

A modern kitchen and distinctive bathrooms

The kitchen pairs light wood cabinetry and white upper cabinets with pale countertops and gray tile flooring. A long counter beneath the windows provides work space and storage, with sliding wood doors and a slatted screen adding distinctive details.

The bathrooms continue the home’s clean lines. One features a glass-enclosed tiled shower with a bench and linear drain, a wood double vanity, and recessed shelves. Another combines a double vanity with a tub and tiled surround. In the powder room, blue-green patterned wallpaper and a pink sink introduce a more colorful finish.

Room for everyday life

Bedrooms, closets, laundry areas, and a utility room with extensive cabinetry carry the renovation into the home’s everyday spaces. A finished basement living area with a brick fireplace adds another place to gather.

Together, these spaces deliver the modern update the homeowners envisioned for their family’s riverfront home.
